Challenge
The East Africa Dairy Development (EADD) project was designed by Heifer International to boost milk yields and incomes of small-scale farmers in East Africa – Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. The objective of the program is to improve the lives of one million farmers in the beneficiary countries through dairy. The second five-year phase of the program EADD II was coming to an end in June 2017. In February 2017 EADD approached us to support them in the development of a success stories booklet and other communication collaterals that could be shared with donors, partners, beneficiaries and other players in the dairy sector.

Approach

We worked with the client through meetings and travelling to the field to interview partners and project beneficiaries such as dairy farmers and dairy cooperative societies to develop success stories including distilling key achievements and lessons learnt during this phase. We also engaged in the review of the project’s reports and other relevant documents on the dairy sector in Kenya to gather more information.
Impact
Our expert documentation team composed of a writer, editor and designer ensured that the outputs told the EADD story in an effective and interesting way. The success stories booklet explains how EADD’s farmer-centered initiatives in Kenya have built confidence and trust, encouraged innovation and enhanced productivity for the benefit smallholder dairy farmers and their families. Other collaterals produced included a corporate slide deck for use in making presentations to donors and partners; a photo story; a brochure; and web stories.
